Marimba, vibraphone, xylophone, glockenspiel, tubular bells, crotales, log drum, bodhrán, derbuka, congas, bongos, snares, military snare drum, tom toms, boobams, bass drum, cymbals, gongs, timpani, chains, mobiles, wood blocks, waterphone, bow, bird call whistles, drum kits, small percussions, and others from time to time.
An acclaimed percussionist, Julien Grégoire has been performing for many years. He is a freelance classical musician, and performs with various orchestras, in particular with the Orchestre des Grands Ballets Canadiens and the Studio de musique ancienne de Montréal.
Active in the contemporary music scene, he has been a member of the Nouvel Ensemble Moderne since it was founded in 1989, and of the Société de musique contemporaine du Québec. With percussionist Robert Leroux, he recently founded an percussion ensemble of six musicians, affiliated with the Université de Montréal.
Among his other fields of exploration and endeavour are music for theater and dance, as well as musical improvisation. He has participated in numerous concerts and recordings in many countries, particularly in Europe and Asia.
Julien Grégoire is professor of percussion at the Cégep Marie-Victorin de Montréal and the Cégep Lionel-Groulx de Ste-Thérèse, as well as at the Université de Montréal.
